Dial M for Murder
A new version of the celebrated murder mystery that inspired Hitchcock’s masterpiece! Tony is convinced that his wife Margot has been cheating on him. Now it seems that the affair is over, but in his jealousy Tony spins a web of suspicion and deception that will tighten around them and ensnare them both in danger, recrimination and murder. Adapted from Frederick Knott’s original, made famous by Alfred Hitchcock’s film, Jeffrey Hatcher’s taut adaptation keeps the twists coming until the very end.

Themes
- In this mystery, one character is a crime novelist. This character gives five reasons that people commit murder: money, fear, jealousy, revenge and the desire to protect someone you love. In real life, most people experience these emotions without acting violently in response. But those emotions can be compelling and powerful. What is a way that you prefer to process powerful emotions in your life?
- Tony is a theatrically heightened example of a person who pretends to love someone while acting differently behind their back. What other examples of this have you seen in the larger world?
